Most breaks are taken due to strategic reasons (understanding market direction over larger timescales given new economic conditions, overtrading risk management etc.) and some are just a result of the firm taking some time off.
This pilot was offered as a fixed deposit to investors with a 1 week notice for withdrawals. We offered fixed returns over this time (accordingly to the capital available) and insured base deposits for all. Since we deal in commodities, the risk rate is <2% of the deployed capital per trade given the strict conditions of the pilot with rigourous stop-loss discipline.
The pilot has no negative returns since any drawdowns are recovered before the rate is published (max drawdown being ~ 17% historically, with an average profit of USD 1038 and an average loss of USD -320). We haven't injected capital for any investor yet.

Our system is primarily based around medium frequency trading, holding positions over minutes and hours as compared to a low-latency trading strategy. Our strategy is mostly derived around understanding global economic/political policy on top of basic systems such as RSI, MACD etc.
We do not rely on insider information/information arbitrage for our systems and neither do we trade on meme stocks, cryptocurrencies or listed equities. Just plain old commodities, specifically Gold.

Algaurum has stopped offering this pilot to external investors, and will be winding down the operation in early 2026. All further investors will be joining via our NZ registered fund offering (Algaurum Fund Limited Partnership) which functions as a regular fund operating in the same space. This new offering does not have any guarantee of deposits, or return rates (the pilot being our proof of concept + reputation building exercise) and is legally a high-risk investment fund for wholesale/accredited investors and institutions.

At our peak (before Algaurum) we've managed around USD 40 million, with a return rate of ~30% (from early 2023 - mid 2025). We expect the same scaling to apply for this offering as well.
